THE CHAMPAGNE CABARET CLUB
The Champagne Cabaret Club, a stage where every solo act has its place, filled with emotion, glitter, and… champagne!
One cabaret. Seven performers. Seven minutes. An infinite number of ways to be alone on stage.
In 2022, Laurence Vaissière and Judith Margolin conceived the Champagne Cabaret Club with a very simple goal: to create the kind of stage they themselves would have loved to find.
A space where an artist isn’t forced to choose between theater, comedy, music, performance art, or burlesque. Where one can tell stories, act, sing, provoke, make people laugh, or move them—without having to fit into a box.
Each evening brings together seven artists, selected for their uniqueness, who have seven minutes to present a glimpse into their world.
It’s not just an open mic night: it’s a full-fledged show, with lighting and sound design tailored to each performance.
An evening of laughter and emotion
The Champagne Cabaret Club embraces the art of contrast.
People come here to laugh, but not only. An evening can shift from stand-up comedy to a theatrical moment, from a song to a burlesque act, from a burst of laughter to an unexpected emotional moment.
Each artist brings their own world to the stage. The audience journeys from one to the next.
And because the show is also a celebration, a bottle of champagne is raffled off during the evening.
The evening concludes with the two founders, Judith and Laurence, on stage performing their lip-sync duo—now a Champagne Cabaret Club staple—known as the “JudLau.”
An Adventure That Resonates with Its Audience
In three years, the Champagne Cabaret Club has established itself as a unique event.
The cabaret has been sold out for three years running at La Nouvelle Seine in Paris, the Avignon Festival, and the Théâtre de l’Œuvre.
The project has also caught the attention of the press, with articles and mentions notably in ELLE.fr, Le Figaro Magazine, and Télérama.
More than just a stage, the Champagne Cabaret Club has become a showcase for artists with unique styles—both established and emerging—who come to share work that is often still unseen by the general public.
A multifaceted creation
For Laurence Vaissière, the Champagne Cabaret Club is a project that encompasses creation, programming, and performance.
As co-founder and programmer, she helps shape each evening and select the artists. As an actress, she also takes the stage to present her own work.
This dual role—behind the scenes and on stage—is at the heart of the project: creating the conditions for artists to find their place, while continuing to experiment, explore, and perform herself.
The Champagne Cabaret Club was born out of this desire to highlight the solo performer in all its forms, in an atmosphere that is at once demanding, free, generous, and festive.
One stage. Many worlds. One bottle of champagne.
And the certainty that a seven-minute performance can sometimes open the door to a whole new world.
